Things to Avoid Before Your Tattoo Session
Thank you for choosing Linka Tattoo Studio to bring your idea to life! If you're still unsure, we recommend checking out the galleries of our artists' works and reading the articles that will help you choose the right artist and learn some tips that will ensure your tattoo stays in perfect condition for life!
To keep your tattoo looking its best, it’s essential to follow all of your artist’s advice both before and after the session, as well as protect your tattoo from UV exposure.
Avoid alcohol, any stimulants, large amounts of coffee, and painkillers for at least 3 days before your tattoo session.
These substances thin your blood and raise blood pressure, which can negatively affect the tattooing process and healing.
Get a good night’s sleep and eat a full meal before your session.
This will help your body handle the stress of the process more easily and make the experience smoother overall.
Skin prep:
3–4 days before your session, you can gently exfoliate the area to be tattooed using a scrub.
(Please be careful not to overdo it — too much exfoliation can irritate the skin and increase discomfort during the session.)
Dry skin care:
If you have very dry skin, start moisturizing the area 1–2 weeks in advance, applying cream 2–3 times a day. This will improve how your skin takes the ink and heals afterward.
For women:
We recommend considering your menstrual cycle when booking. The closer you are to the beginning of your cycle, the more sensitive your body might be to pain, and there may be more bleeding during the session. The best time for a tattoo is mid-cycle.
However, if you’re unable to plan around your cycle — for example, you’re visiting Georgia and want to take a piece of it home with you — don’t worry! The sensations may be more intense, but it’s totally manageable.
Hair removal:
If the tattoo will be placed on a hairy area, it’s best to shave it at home using your usual method. This helps avoid irritation that may occur if the area is shaved just before the session.
Important!
If you have any moles or scars in the area where you plan to get tattooed, please send us a photo via Telegram or Instagram before your session. We’ll take a look and let you know if this placement is safe.
In some cases, we may recommend changing the location of the tattoo to avoid harming your skin.
Getting a tattoo is a form of stress for the body — the larger the piece, the more pressure it puts on your immune system. That’s why it’s important to follow a few simple preparation guidelines.
